About Me

Eric Mannella is a renowned Canadian artist and co-founder of Atelier de Brésoles. His personal work focuses on portraiture and the human figure. He is an inspiring teacher who has taught students of all ages for more than two decades. In addition to teaching at Atelier de Brésoles, Eric Mannella is an instructor of artistic anatomy and drawing at Syn Studio in Montreal. He has an MFA cum laude from the New York Academy of Art and a BFA from York University in Toronto. While completing his studies in New York he was given an assistant teaching position under founding faculty member Edward Schmidt. To enhance his understanding of the body, Mr. Mannella attended a specialized anatomical seminar in the dissection laboratory at Yale University under Deane Keller.  Mr. Mannella is also the recipient of a Forbes Foundation Travel Grant to Château Balleroy and the Prince of Wales Scholarship from the Prince of Wales Foundation. 

He frequently gives artist talks and painting demonstrations at a number of arts institutions including Concordia University, S.U.N.Y. New Paltz,  Algonquin College, and ArtNOW Westmount. He has been a juror for the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada and the Institut des arts figuratifs, and was featured in the documentary film L'Art du Nu.
